Untitled
This series explores the interplay between cartoons and abstraction and involves a process-oriented approach, back and forth between traditional and digital tools - gathering, sorting, collating, associating and patterning with repeated motifs.
These compositions include a variety of found images collected from sketches, coloring pages, wet media drawings, wallpaper patterns, and blurred photographs. When fractured and recombined, the intertwining and layered forms create imaginative, complicated and sometimes puzzling abstract passages. These drawings are mounted on an acrylic surface which heightens the expressive features of comic abstraction, the colors appear more vibrant and the shapes more animated.
